Platelet-Rich Plasma and Platelet-Rich Fibrin in New Jersey

Helping You Heal Faster with PRP and PRF

At New Jersey Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, we focus on our patients’ comfort and a smooth recovery after oral surgery. Whether you’re getting dental implants, a bone graft, or a sinus lift, we know that healing is an important part of the process. That’s why, for more than a decade, we’ve been using products called platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to gently support and speed up your body’s natural healing process.

What are PRP and PRF?

Both PRP and PRF are made from your own blood. During your procedure, we take a small amount (just a few drops) and spin it in a special machine to collect the part of the blood that’s richest in healing cells. This includes platelets, which help repair tissue and reduce swelling. Because PRP and PRF come from your own blood, you will not have an allergic reaction, and your body will not reject them.

PRP is higher in blood platelets, while PRF is richer in platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells. PRP releases growth factors rapidly for surface tissue repair. We use PRF for deeper tissue repair because the growth factors are released over a longer time period.

How They Help You Heal

PRP and PRF can help reduce swelling, ease discomfort, and make recovery easier for our patients. Here’s what they do:

  • Speed up healing after surgery by supporting your body’s natural repair process.
  • Help bone and tissue grow back more quickly and strongly, especially important after bone grafts or implants.
  • Reduce swelling and discomfort, resulting in less soreness in the days following your procedure.
  • Lower the chance of infection because they contain helpful healing cells.
  • The white blood cells in PRF are especially helpful in providing a smooth recovery following extensive or complex surgery.

Where We Use PRP and PRF

PRP and PRF can be helpful in many types of oral surgery, including:

  • Bone grafts for dental implants
  • Sinus lifts
  • Repairs after tooth removal or small cyst removal
  • Helping close openings between the sinus and mouth

In all these cases, PRP or PRF helps the body recover more quickly and comfortably.

Why Patients Trust Our Team

Our team has been using PRP and PRF in the office for over 10 years. Dr. Ladman is connected with five local hospitals and trusts PRP’s and PRF’s ability to improve healing and recovery for his patients.

PRP and PRF Frequently Asked Questions

Are they safe?

Yes. PRP and PRF come from your own blood, so there’s no risk of rejection or infection.

Will my insurance cover it?

Insurance does not cover the cost of PRP or PRF, which is about $200. In many cases, this cost is built into the price of your procedure.

Is PRP or PRF always needed?

Not always. It depends on the type of procedure and your individual case. Your doctor will talk with you about whether it’s the right choice for you.

Can PRP be used alone?

PRP is usually mixed with a bone material to help support proper healing and growth. Your surgeon will choose the right combination for your needs.

Are PRP and PRF right for everyone?

Most patients can safely use PRP and PRF; however, those with certain blood conditions may require an alternative approach. We’ll review your medical history carefully to make sure it’s safe for you.
